This is messmenu.org, a map of restaurant inspections in the Portland-Vancouver Metro area. This map shows the worst offenders on the restaurant inspection list - low level scores are filtered out.
It's a bit quirky due to the way data comes in:
1) places in odd spots or neighborhoods are often mailing addresses for food carts. occasionally an address will be put in wrong in the system (i.e. NE when they meant SE, etc), those will sometimes give a wrong or no location
2) Oregon seems to be much more lenient than WA in scoring - Oregon counties all use the same system and it seems like they often don't give a score for major violations. since points work differently between systems, points are also normalized to so everything is consistent - 0 points in WA's feed is perfect, 100 points in OR's is perfect, so I've had to normalized everything to WA style scoring
3) Most importantly: A restaurant being on here with a warning ultimately doesn't mean much in the long term, if they can clean up their act.
it's the repeat offenders to be aware of. maybe as data grows I can list repeat offenders
I also setup an IRC channel and an Image Board - feel free to post feedback or post pictures of food, it doesn't matter if it's from a restaurant or if it's home cooked.
